Raith Rovers's goalkeeper Aidan Glavin has signed with Linfield after being released by the Scottish Championship club. Glavin had been unable to dislodge Josh Rae from the number one position at Raith in 2025-2026, with the back-up goalie making just one appearance in the 5-2 home KDM Evolution Trophy last 32 win over Hamilton Accies on December 9 last year. Raith would go on to win that trophy with a 4-1 final success over Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Former Elgin City custodian Glavin, who has also previously served Kilmarnock B and Auchinleck Talbot, was hailed by his new Linfield boss David Healy after signing on at Windsor Park. Healy said: “Aidan is a talented young goalkeeper with a lot of potential. He’s been working hard in a professional environment in Scotland and has shown qualities that we believe can develop further here at Linfield.” Glavin was one of seven players released by Raith this summer, with Shaun Byrne, Josh Mullin, and Jack Hamilton also finding new clubs. Byrne has signed for League One outfit Montrose on a two-year contract, while Mullin has joined League Two outfit Stirling Albion as player/coach on a one-year deal. Hamilton, who endured a largely frustrating time in front of goal while on Raith’s books last season, will be directly up against the Kirkcaldy side in the 2026-2027 William Hill Championship as he has teamed up with former Raith team-mates Euan Murray and Aidan Connolly at fellow second-tier outfit Queen’s Park. At the time of writing, Raith’s other freed stars, midfielders Ross Matthews and Logan Raeside and defender Callum Hannah, had not yet found new clubs. The club is looking to rebuild and strengthen its squad for the upcoming season, with the transfer window still open. The future of Raith Rovers's squad is uncertain, but one thing is clear: the club is committed to bringing in new talent and competing at the highest level in the Scottish Championship.
