Raith Rovers defender Paul Hanlon has outlined his ambition to return to a managerial role in the future while remaining fully focused on his playing duties. The 36-year-old, who recently conducted the Scottish Cup first round draw at Hampden, stressed his immediate priority is performing for the Championship club.

Hanlon, who holds a degree and coaching licences, briefly took on the manager's role at Stark's Park in the past. He said he feels fit and strong enough to play every week and is desperate to continue as long as his body allows.

"It was a bit frustrating missing the opening part of the season but I'm feeling great now," Hanlon said. "We're getting wins and getting points on the board. It's a good start but it's a long, hard season in the Championship."

His comments come with Raith Rovers sitting second in the Scottish Championship table, having taken 14 points from their opening seven matches. Their recent form of three wins, one draw and one defeat has them five points behind leaders Stenhousemuir. The side's next challenge is a home fixture against fifth-placed Livingston this Friday. Hanlon emphasised he wants to give everything in a Rovers shirt in the immediate future before considering a longer-term move into coaching.
