Raith Rovers suffered a second league defeat of the season, losing 2-0 at home to Livingston on Friday night. Robbie Muirhead scored a goal in each half to secure the points for Davie Martindale's side, who moved up to third in the table.

The result leaves Raith second in the Championship on 14 points from eight games, but eight points behind leaders Stenhousemuir. The hosts, missing several players through injury and only able to name three substitutes, conceded just after half-time when Muirhead finished a slick move involving Cristian Montano. The striker doubled the lead on the hour mark from the penalty spot after his shot was handled by Arron Lyall.

Manager Dougie Imrie introduced Lewis Stevenson and Kyle Turner to try and change the shape, but his side created few clear chances. Imrie told reporters after the match he would not try to sugarcoat the performance. "It was a really poor night at the office, certainly second half," the boss said.

Raith now turn their attention to an away trip to face Morton on 3 October.
